These are challenging times for democracy in the United States and elsewhere in the world. And like many of you, we here at Threshing Pigeon have spent countless hours doomscrolling media sites and the blogosphere trying to keep up with, and make sense of, everything that is happening.

It can be a daunting and overwhelming chore.

We are both blessed and cursed with an endless stream of information from countless sources of varying quality and veracity. It's challenging, and frankly exhausting, trying to decide which sources to follow and what to read, watch, or listen to.

At the end of the day, we all want to be informed, but we also want to have the breathing space to live our lives.

And that's why we created Threshing Pigeon. We spend our days doomscrolling so you don't have to.

Curated Content

Threshing Pigeon delivers curated content from pro-democracy thought leaders. These are individuals and organizations with the background and experience to provide you (and us) with informed analysis and opinions.

We include sources from across the political spectrum, from center-right to center-left. The key criteria is a commitment to integrity and democracy above all else.

We primarily follow independent sources publishing on the many digital platforms available today. We don't avoid major media outlets, but those are already well covered, and unfortunately in today's political climate they have become less inclined to speak truth to power.

Each day we drink from this firehose of information, select a range of pieces to summarize, add them to our collection, and deliver them to you. Our goal is to provide you with daily content on a variety of pro-democracy topics that will bring clarity, hope, and direction in these unsettling times.

At Threshing Pigeon we have read every article and watched every video in our curated collection from start to finish. We do not use AI to review any content that we recommend, write any of our summaries, or select any of our quotes.

Similarly, we do not use AI to write any of our original content. For better or worse, the original content we publish comes straight from our collective minds to your screens.

We aren't Luddites – in fact we are committed technology enthusiasts. But we believe the best works come from the minds of humans not soulless algorithms.

What's Up with the Silly Name?

Threshing is the process of removing the edible part of grain from straw without removing the bran. Back in the day, communities held threshing bees where members gathered together to get the season's threshing done. If you squint hard enough, that kind of describes the process we go through here at Threshing Pigeon to curate content.

Sadly, the use of pigeon in our name is even more of a stretch. It comes from the pigeon post where homing pigeons were used to carry messages.

We like to think we show good taste in the content we curate. But it's easy to argue that doesn't apply to the name we chose for this site. De gustibus non est disputandum.
